What Would Jesus Do?

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts . . .”
Isaiah 55:8-9

Remember the phrase “What Would Jesus Do” (WWJD) that became popular in the 90s? In some ways, it put us in a position to determine the mind of God.

This approach has the potential of weakening our faith. Why? Because there are times we just don’t know what to do. Our burdens should be given to God. To imagine the mind of God is impossible. We have no idea what God would do or say. If we did, where is our faith? We are called to trust, have faith, be in constant prayer, and wait upon the Lord.

God, please help me cast all my cares upon you.

List: Journal how God has answered your prayers.
Read: Luke 17:5; Romans 10:17; Hebrews 11:1; Proverbs 3:5-6

  1. This is such an interesting perspective. I hadn’t thought of it that way before, but had become somewhat disenchanted with the phrase, so this was refreshing.
I am new to the community and hope to have a site that brings engaging discussions to the topics of faith and doubt. I hope you will check it out.

Life is a series of journeys with hills and valleys, peaks, and rough oceanic waves. Sometimes you feel like you’re drowning. Sometimes the road you’re on becomes flooded. There’s detour signs that point in three different directions and you’re left standing soak and wet wondering which path leads to happiness and spiritual peace. Christ’s path is narrow and we’re beckoned to stay on it. I just got knocked down an hour or so ago, but I talked to God and asked for strength to get up again. I never get up like I went down. Each time I get back up, I’m made stronger through the very trial that tried to weaken me. Don’t give up and don’t give in. May God help you find your way again.
